What on earth is this?

Am waiting for a call back from the vet, but wondered if anyone had any ideas.

2 yr old male golden doodle. This definitely wasn't there last night, but I just noticed it as he snoozed on the sofa this afternoon.

Anyone know what it might be? Looks like a strawberry.

Could be a tick although usually more liver colored less pink.

Mindymomo · 30/04/2024 16:07

It looks like a hot spot, probably needs a vet to take a look at.

Thanks @EatCrow and @CurlsnSunshinetime4tea

I think histiocytoma too.

Thanks @Flat04 and @CarrieMoonbeams . This looks like a kind of small, saggy strawberry, if that would fit the bill?

It's the only thing I can think of that would come up so quickly. One of my dogs had one on her side, up near her shoulder and it was a bit smoother than that but it might depend on where on the dog it actually is. It just appeared overnight too.

Another of my dogs has a lump on her front leg which looks like a tiny wee cauliflower. It's soft, wobbly, and it's taken 2 years to get to the size it is now, which is about the size of my pinky nail. The vet has checked that and says it's nothing to worry about at all, and she's an old girl (dog not vet) so he wouldn't operate as it's not causing a problem.

I'll be interested to hear what your vet says, if you don't mind updating.

Thank you, and I will do @CarrieMoonbeams .

@CarrieMoonbeams the vet agreed with you! We've been told to just keep an eye on it for the time being.

Excellent, that'll be £45 please 😂

That's good news though, I'm so glad they've been able to reassure you. There's always something to worry about with our wee fluffy friends isn't there?

ijustneedtokeepbreathing · 02/05/2024 23:02

@CarrieMoonbeams yep. Worse than children!
