Dog and garden renovation help

NewMeNewUs · 19/04/2024 10:25

We are currently getting our garden renovated.
It’s all mud and soil atm.
obviously dog needs to go out for the toilet but her paws are getting absolutely caked in mud.
i have a washing up bowl by the back door I’ve been using to wash her paws with but it’s starting to drive me a bit mad ha! So I wondered if anyone had any tips for me for the next 5 muddy weeks.

thank you

whenever he goes out, you close door behind
then waiting with towel to wipe paws when wants to come in

Do you have any hard surfaces, patio? Otherwise I would take said doggo out for lead walks on pavement. We have an 8 month old border collie puppy,(and an 8 year old BC) we have fenced off a portion of about 50 feet, there's a big patio made of slabs, bit of grass, because they have a dog flap and she was digging up stuff. We walk in forest and woods,so yes there's a good bit of paw washing because of the Alabama rot.

Take her for a quick walk out front.

don’t get a Mud Daddy

shite!

MalcolmTuckersSwearBox · 19/04/2024 10:52

Take her for regular walks around the block instead.

NewMeNewUs · 19/04/2024 10:53

Thanks all.
I did thinking about taking her out the front up and down the road when she wants to go out the back door but she will get all excited thinking we are going on a walk
I will look at those paw cleaners thanks.
think I’m just going to have to suck it up and deal with the mess and cleaning.

Silly question maybe, how does the silicone paw washer work?.I don't think my BCs would like it. We often have to wash undercarriage as well, because they thunder along. Normally it's in the porch and a little bowl of water and dog shampoo, dry off. Then straight into the living room.... open plan.

I've taught my dog twist and spin. Essentially this is just turning around clockwise or anticlockwise, but it gets 70 to 80 % of mud off of paws if done on a towel.

Also a mud daddy is useful for when it is really bad.

We are starting our garden landscaping soon so our Ddogs are going to be banned from the rear garden from the week before work starts all the way through until at least 1-week after it is completely finished. Instead they are going to be taken out the front every time they need to go out (even at night).
It is going to be hard (for us as well as them) as they love running around on the lawn but at least they can sit at the back windows and watch the work as it progresses.
Expect this to be 4-5 weeks.😨

I would just take her out on the lead for a wee down the road. She'll soon learn she's not going for a walk every time you leave the house.

A cousin had a beautiful lawn and didn't want my dogs peeing on it. So when we stayed I just put leads on and walked down the road for a few minutes.
