Anyone else noticing ticks this year? My Golden Doodle is treated every mouth with vet prescribed flea, tick and worm tablets but I’ve taken four off her in the past three days, never found a single one in thirty years of collie ownership.

Im just about to treat mine for ticks with Braveco my understanding is that it doesn’t stop the ticks from attaching to your dog but they die and off on their own within 24.
I’ve just removed one from my old dog we have a lot here but maybe not this early but it could be the bloody awful weather making me feel that its early because it still feels like winter.

Are you sure the vet prescribed treatment covers ticks? I had to ask for tick coverage specifically as the treatment they offer as standard on the monthly plan is flea and worm only.

I took another 2 off tonight. I phoned the vet who told me the ticks die before they can be harmful, don’t know whether she’s getting them from the wild garden or the pond area, I’m ready to put it all to the torch!

Depending on what treatment you give it should kill the ticks in max of 24 hours which is suggested before the ticks can transmit disease.

Ticks seem to be getting worse and worse each year.

We’re getting good results from Billy No Mates. Haven’t had a tick on either dog since we started using it - couple of years

Someone once told me cold weather in the winter reduces the numbers in the summer but last year I had none on me or the dogs and the winter wasnt especially cold. This year the dogs have had one already and we had 6 days of snow and days of hard frost!

Seresto collars are the only protection you can get. They are very effective. My dog is a tick magnet and she gets none wearing one of these.
