Ear drops cost 45£ but can't get them in

Took d dog to vet today for his ears. Got ear drops but he won't let me near him. Cocker spaniel usually pretty chilled. Any tips? Have ordered a muzzle as I'm scared he will bite me. He starts turning up his lip and growling if I even lift his ears.

He must be in a lot of pain poor thing.
Could someone help hold him? If single could you ask a neighbour or friend?

Is he muzzle trained? Because if not, trying to muzzle him when he's clearly in pain could make things worse.

Cooperative care and the bucket game is great for this. Although admittedly it would help if you already had it established before the ear problem arose. There is a good overview here.
