Dog depression due to restriction

I think my dog is getting depressed after a small op has resulted in a period of restriction during recovery. I’m finding it hard to see. I’m doing the usual enrichment whilst he can’t get out eg sniff games, quiet training, cuddles, finding things games. Has anyone else been through this and does the dog bounce back once their normal active lifestyle can be resumed?

It's definitely a thing and dogs definitely bounce back.

Can you socialise him still? Perhaps bring over a friend or new people to fuss him? That's what I did when I had one of mine spayed. I couldn't have her play with the other dogs as they were too rowdy but my mum had an old spaniel that would come over every day. They'd just pootle around the garden together and cuddle up. Really made a difference to her.

It's horrible seeing them go through it! Really feel for you, OP
