How does your dog react when you sneeze?

Everytime I sneeze our dog rushes to me, hurls herself in my lap or if I'm standing jumps up on her hind legs and presses her face against me. I can be in another room and she'll still come racing in to check on me. Even when she's sure I'm alright she stays really close for at least 10-15 minutes.

i had a sneezing fit earlier - 22 sneezes in a row and she was horrified - eventually she slung herself across my chest and nosed at my face - not sure it helped stopped the sneezing!!

I've never known a dog react like this before. I've known some that might be said to look mildly concerned but she's clearly very worried indeed

Awwwwww.... nope mine does the "head up, look round like a meerkat" thing, then looks disgusted that I woke him up and goes back to sleep.

TheFlis · 15/02/2024 18:40

@BeyondMyWits Mine does exactly the same!

vodkaredbullgirl · 15/02/2024 18:42

Stare at me, then go back to sleep again.

LutonBeds · 15/02/2024 18:44

Stares at me like I’ve shit in his food bowl, then manoeuvres himself to another spot and glares balefully at me before going back to sleep.

Dahliasrule · 15/02/2024 18:46

Same here!

Smallpawsbigwoofs · 15/02/2024 18:57

Mine used to jump up (often from lying down sleeping) and glare at me like I had committed some hideous crime. He would continue to glare at me until I said 'sorry' then he would lie back down eventually making me feel like a criminal.

Now I say 'oops a daisy mummy's got sneezies ' in a baby voice and for some reason this seems to mollify him a bit. Either that or he has just got used to me sneezing alot (constant viruses / colds this winter) and can't be bothered anymore. Who knows.

Nobody does a disdainful look like my dog though. I imagine him saying 'peasant' in a haughty voice. Here is the little pipsqueek!

Mine has always done the high alert slam and protect from a sneeze. Then sits on me with a side eye for 10 minutes after.

We call the cockerpoo Covid Dog for this reason. But it's coughing that affects her.

Psychoticbreak · 15/02/2024 19:07

Offended.

Frogger17 · 15/02/2024 19:08

One hates it and runs off. The other doesn’t even raise an eyebrow

TeapotCollection · 15/02/2024 19:09

Many years ago a friend of mine had a Doberman that used to go crazy if anyone sneezed, to the extent that they’d go upstairs to do it if they could

StopGo · 15/02/2024 19:10

We got our Cocker Spaniel pup a few weeks before DS had major reconstructive facial surgery. His sneezes are epic. Pup now adult dog gets very concerned and goes into nurse mode. Other people are not worthy of her attention.

Nw22 · 15/02/2024 19:11

Licks my face 😂

LikeWhyThough · 15/02/2024 19:24

My dog is terrified of me sneezing. If she's lying beside me she jumps up and runs and hides under the bed. Makes me feel like a horrible witch.

Strangely, she doesn't bat an eyelid when my dh sneezes even though his are 3 times as loud as mine Hmm

tizwozliz · 15/02/2024 19:58

Older pup is fairly indifferent, younger one wiggles like mad, jumps up to me and tries to lick my face. Then I say "just a sneeze" and she goes back to doing whatever it was she was doing.

Janetsmug · 15/02/2024 20:53

Mine is very concerned if I sneeze, up in my face and can't peel him off me for a while afterwards. Zero reaction to anyone else sneezing though so I'm taking that as he only really cares about me <smug>

Twoshoesnewshoes · 15/02/2024 20:58

😂

mine stands up immediately, looks in completely the wrong direction, barks, then goes back to sleep.

LargeSquareRock · 15/02/2024 21:00

My Labrador doesn’t move or react to loud unexpected noises. Must be the gun dog in him. Now, the barely discernible clink from picking up his food bowl on the other hand…
