I won't. I'm just venting 😭😭😭

But I have 2 dogs age 5 and 7. Completely toilet trained since pups.

A close friend got a puppy and suffered a serious bereavement just weeks after. Breeder wasn't interested so I took pup to find a rescue to take her. Nobody had room anywhere or could help. I couldn't trust anyone to take her from FB or anything. This went on for weeks and months and eventually I just stopped looking.

But she's not toilet trained at all. I do everything I didn't successfully with my other dogs but she's just stupid. She just continues to pee inside and poo inside and this has made my older dogs start doing the same!!

Now if it's Cole or wet non of them will go out. They hold their pees in and just sniff about and act like they don't need it.

I'm trying my hardest to stay out with them till they go but I have health issues and standing gin the cold is SO painful waiting for all 3 to go.

I'm coming down every morning to piss and shit.

I've bought them new beds to crate train them.

In th night someone has got off the couch, gone to the bed and filled it with piss
. I'm just on my last tether

I wish I never kept the youngest dog. She's just ruined all the hard work put in with the other 2. They were toilet trained for years before she same along.

Have you tried saying the words when you are outside? I find that helpful (wee-wees) and say it whenever they do it (yes wee-wees good boy etc).

I know you probably do but it wasn’t in the message before of the things you are doing so thought I might be worth a try!

Motorina · 29/01/2024 17:38

Sympathies OP. My (then) 18 month old started doing this autumn last year when the clocks changed. Went back to basics, cracked it, then this autumn she started again. I actually have spy-cam footage of her walking through the kitchen, sticking her head out the dog door, looking around, and coming back in to pee in the warm.

Now, on one level I can't blame her, but cleaning up adult dog piss is grim.

I went absolutely full on on the crating. In daylight she had free reign. At dusk? Out in the garden. If she went, praise and biscuits. If not, in the crate for an hour. Rinse and repeat. It was really really hard work (and she made 'I hate everything' eyes of misery at me from her crate), but it was the only thing that cracked it. I bet next year will be doing it over again - she's just a zero shits given dog, unfortunately.

Doggydoggy · 29/01/2024 17:46

Could you walk them round the garden? Like on a lead, just a thought as you’re not keen on walking in the street due to safety.

I don’t know if it’ll work, my dog refuses to go to the toilet on his lead in the garden, but out front he’s fine.

Nabooh · 29/01/2024 18:07

I'm really upset.

I've been taking her out every 30 mins.

With a treat and saying do a wee wee. Which she understands and does if she needs one.

Last 2 trips in the garden, nothing.

We just came back in and she just squatted and peed in the middle of the living room.

I was starting to think I'm just was not taking he rout enough/paying attention but I've been right on her today.

I don't understand, she knows that outside is where she pees :(

Been out for an 8pm walk.

Little legs and older girl both did a poo.
Older boy wouldn't.

Lots of wees from everyone.

Also took treats and praised and treated each wee.

Fingers crossed for no mess inside tonight

ThePure · 29/01/2024 21:30

I don't know if this is a dumb idea (toilet training fortunately has been something my otherwise quite dim and stubborn dog does get) but can a tiny dog like a chihuahua be trained to use a litter tray indoors like cats do? Obviously outside would be the best but failing that in a tray has got to be better than all over your floor or furnishings

Norpeth · 29/01/2024 21:34

Are your two older dogs boys? And is the girl intact? It might just be them marking that's making them regress in their house training.

Older ones are girl and boy, both 'fixed'
Younger one isn't fixed because shes unexpectedly come into season early when she was due to be done.

I considered this but I don't know if it would make things worse with the older dogs?? Cause they can smell wee in the room?
She walks whilst she pisses too which makes it a pain. I used to have a pee mat down with a plastic base but she would start on the mat then just walk off it whilst still squatting and weeing.

Norpeth · 29/01/2024 21:46

Even if they are fixed they probably still are marking. My fixed boy is terrible for it. If he goes to to mum's house he has to be watched constantly.

I was just trying to give you hope that once you've sorted the puppy out, the older ones will pro Aly get better too. Agree with pp that simple solution is your best bet. Proper scrub the house with it to get rid of the scent. I really feel for you.

It sucks it so dangerous where you live. The only thing is some dogs need a good run up before a poo and so need speed to get the old arse adrenalin going. Could you try running around the garden like a madwoman at 11pm and see if they'll run and shit? Then praise/treat. Obviously this sounds mad but just an idea.

*so many typos, very tired!

Edited

"arse adrenaline" 😂😂

MissingMoominMamma · 29/01/2024 22:02

I bet if you got another dog to pee somewhere in the garden, they’d all start peeing there.

Worth a try!

Klcak · 29/01/2024 22:14

2 puppy pads side by side for the little one?

Grrrrrrreatt · 29/01/2024 22:19

On a warm few days keep them outside all day long.

birdglasspen · 29/01/2024 22:25

Your problem is you live in a rough area and you took in a tiny dog, get a Rottweiler then take all 4 dogs for a walk at 10pm
No one will mess with you!
Sorry, this isn’t helpful, sounds like a crap situation.
I hope they stop doing it!

Lovetosleep1 · 29/01/2024 22:42

Do you have grass in your garden or is it a yard? My dog is really reluctant to wee on hard ground and will always wait for a patch of grass.
Also guessing if it's the cold she doesn't like then hopefully it will stop when it warms up. That will at least give you a good stretch of time to establish a good routine before it's dark and cold again.
Sone dogs are just really hard to toilet train. I had a French bulldog years ago who never fully got it and would quite happily wee in her bed and still sleep in it.

Dogdilemma2000 · 29/01/2024 23:14

Has she seen a vet OP? Walking whilst weeing doesn’t sound like laziness to me.

Yes, that's very unusual, @Nabooh
It sounds very frustrating.

Italian Greyhounds are notorious for being hard to housetrain as well...no matter how cute they look, they can be poo and wee monsters!

Walking and peeing sounds odd... are you certain she hasn't a urine infection?

If she was peeing on an easily washable surface it would be easier to clean up
Could she be scent marking?

We had a badly housetrained dog visit many years ago, and it made both my well trained continent dogs pee over where the intruder had cocked his beastly leg.

Nabooh · 29/01/2024 23:42

She walks towards me to get a treat whilst still peeing.

She isn't walking normally and it's coning out, she's walking whilst squatting then normally once finished. It's like she wants the treat so bad she's already coming to get it before she's done.

But on walks she does the same. Squats and does about half them starts squat walking the rest of it.

I'll take her vets but she's ALWAYS done it since being tiny so I doubt she's had a UTI for 9 months with zero progression or symptoms apart from that.

She's also been seen several times and nothings come up. No temp or anything.

OP posts:
Nabooh · 29/01/2024 23:43

I'd imagine she would be very poorly/sore/licking her bits if she has a water infection for 9 months??

We have grass.

The older dogs and her all pee/poo in the yard. They don't have an issue using it.

Non of the big ones have done anything inside today.

So I think the later walk was a good call.

They're all in their crates now.

I am usually asleep way by now but I stayed away to take them out at 11.30 for a last wee.

The older girls point blank refused for an hour. So we will see if they keep the crates clean at 6.30am

Feed them in the morning only. That will help with the mess.

What breed is the new dog? IME some of the problematic breeds are just untrainable when it comes to toilet training...

Honestly, I know you said you don't want to get rid of her. But you should. No one should have to live in a house than smells like dog piss and shit - and the smell will linger, no matter how good your cleaning products are. And if it's effecting your relationship with your existing dogs, that's unfair on them.

I'm with this. Rehone the puppy. You tried to do a good deed. Unfortunately it didn't work out.
