Chihuahua in season Just 10 weeks after her last season started??

She started her first season on Nov 17th. Puffy vulva, bleeding etc.

It all calmed down in the normal time, normal season cycle.

But I noticed a bit of blood in her wee this morning, thought she might have a UTI but I've just looked and her vulva is super puffy again and she is bleeding.

It's only been about 10 weeks!

I know smaller breeds can have closer seasons but surely not that close?

Trying to get through to vet but noone answering phone (always busy on a Saturday)

She's one years old in February by the way.

I've spoken to the vet who said it just sounds like she's started a new season.

But that's extremely soon surely?

Try to get her booked in for spaying next week?

They won't spay her if she's actively in season. The womb has a massive increase in blood flow during their season, making it incredibly risky to do surgery as they can bleed out. Especially in a small breed.

It sounds like it could be a split season, if just 10 weeks on.

More likely in young dogs, so they don't actually ovulate during first heat yalthough they have all the other signs of season and then ovulate on the second part of the split season.

Oh that's interesting! Never heard of that. Will have a read about it. Thanks.

I think most things are normal! Mine had her first at 8 months. Now 18 months and we’re waiting for a second! She’s a small breed too.
