Any experience with delaying dog's season?

Have just realised Ddog is due on anytime now and we're going up tomorrow to stay at DH's mum's. She has nice carpets. Ddog has had one season before and we're going to get her spayed before the next one, but does anyone have any experience with this? Have looked online and it's all US and injections that have to be given weeks earlier. We'll probably just take the Vax with us and hope it's only a few spots, which it was last time, but am just wondering. TIA

I think you've left it too late, one of our dogs had a contraception injection every few months, as she couldn't be spayed and she never bleed so you might be able to get that. I personally would just take the vax and get her booked in to be spayed

You could get some heat pants or dog nappies for her. Think they might sell these in pets at home too. amzn.eu/d/1Wc7KXo

It's probably too late to do anything now. I would take lots of blankets.

😂DH wants to know why I'm laughing so much - it's the thought of Ddog wearing dog diapers. I can just imagine the look on her face! I don't think she'd tolerate them. But thank you anyway.

Ah they are pretty good at keeping everything clean but yes they do look quite comical on!

You might find she goes more than six months between seasons. I've had 3 bitches, and they've gone 6 months, 8 months and 11 months between seasons.

Mine had her first season at 8 months. Now 17 months and no sign of a second!

Ooh interesting! Let's hope so!

Think we'll cross our fingers, buy some carpet shampoo, and hope for the best. Thanks all x

Yeah our lot are never regular. You could check her if you're worried. Basically her nipples will be slightly swollen and hard and her other bits swollen and puffy a few days before even if there is no discharge yet. Also might be more clingy, hungry and tired but depends on the dog!

... also just to add, 2nd season can be heavier than the first one.
Just teach her to wear the pants!
