Nc as don't want it linked to my other threads.

16 year old cocker spaniel, eating and drinking fine but I'm pretty sure she hasn't done a wee today. She definitely hasn't been since this morning.

She seems fine in herself tail wagging and wanting treats like normal.

Has anyone experienced this before? How long should I give it before getting her seen?

If she seems fine and your vets is open tomorrow I’d get her seen in the morning , particularly as you aren’t exactly sure when she last went . Hope she is ok .

margotrose · 29/12/2023 18:56

My dog can easily hold it 16 hours plus so personally I wouldn't worry until tomorrow morning, especially as you're not sure when she last went.

Thank you @Floralnomad @margotrose
Is there an easy way to check if her bladder is full?

All you can do is really encourage her out for a wee - take her for a walk or something and see if she goes?

But if she may have gone this morning I really wouldn't be concerned yet.

FluffyMcFlufferson · 29/12/2023 19:23

We went for an hours walk at 12pm and she didn't go then which is what made me think it was odd and been keeping an eye on her this afternoon and nothing.
Thank you will monitor her this evening and see what happens

How's your dog today @FluffyMcFlufferson ?

Fullofxmascbeer · 30/12/2023 11:53

They need to be seen quickly. It can get serious very quickly.

FluffyMcFlufferson · 30/12/2023 12:06

@margotrose she did a wee about 1am (on the carpet 🥴) and then again at 7am (outside!) so keeping an eye but think she is ok thank you for asking

My first Labrador went 23 hours once. We got back from our walk at 3p.m, it was torrential rain all that night and the following morning, he finally peed as we began our walk at 2p.m. The look on his face as he regarded the sheets of rain before curling up in his bed and shutting his eyes remains with me thirty years on.

Floralnomad · 30/12/2023 13:37

Perhaps get her to the vets after the New Year for an MOT as I assume peeing indoors is not normal for her . At least she’s been .

FluffyMcFlufferson · 30/12/2023 14:14

@muddyford 23 hours 😱😱 bet that was the best wee of his life! It was torrential rain here yesterday when she went for her walk so maybe that was it. Hasn't bothered her before but she is an old lady now

@Floralnomad she is booked in for her vaccs on 14th Jan so will ask them to check her over then. She went in November for an ear infection and they couldn't believe how well she is for her age

I suspect the bad weather is your answer - mine is definitely fussier about it now he's no longer a puppy Grin

If she's been twice now it's likely she's fine but I'd keep an eye out for signs of a UTI just in case :)
