I'm heartbroken. He was my rock, my best friend and my biggest comfort when times were hard.

He was old and it was his time, he went peacefully with his family around him, but it doesn't make it any easier.

Please can everyone tell me lovely, happy stories about their pups to cheer me up?

Goodbye my Goose, you'll always be in my heart.

So sorry OP. What's the saying? A day too soon rather than a day too late☹️

I've been there and it's heartbreaking, but what wonderful memories we are lucky to have 💐

Jessforless · 24/12/2023 14:54

I’ve been there OP, the hardest day. But now we’re a couple of years down the line and we have reached a place where we can talk about him and smile and laugh at crazy things he did.

So sorry OP x

Run free Goose 😘

TheShellBeach · 24/12/2023 14:55

I'm so sorry, OP.
It's the hardest thing to do but the kindest for a loving companion animal.

Im so sorry for your loss. Goose will always be in your hearts and your gave him the best possible life filled with love. You will never replace him but when the time is right, a new dog may come into your like who you will love just as much.
My DDog was put to sleep when he was 2. Far too young. But 6 weeks later, a call from the breeder resulted in a new pup arriving in our home. He's helped us heal as a family and bought so much laughter. He's not a replacement but brings me joy and unconditional love every day.

Oh I’m so sorry, it is truly shit losing your dog 💐 I lost my old boy at the end of October and still can’t talk about him without crying.

Run free Goose, look out for a bloody idiot spaniel called Dylan!

It really is the price we pay for inviting them into our lives , but it's always a privilege to have known them 💐.

I know just how you feel, I had to let my old boy Alfie go in August, like your Goose it was his time and he went with us all with him but it's hard to let them go when you love them so much. It helps to think of all of the lovely times you've had together and that they had a great life. My Alfie was the biggest fan of his routine, would stand and stare at me constantly when it was time to go out and occasionally nag if I was late. He also had to find the biggest log possible to carry and I do mean log not stick, his core muscles were so strong and he had to hold his tail up high to balance it. He was the best boy.

GoodbyeGoosey · 24/12/2023 17:23

Thank you all for your kind words. It's cruel that their lives are so much shorter than ours, but at least I can rest easy knowing he spent his whole life with us happy and spoiled rotten.

I had to make the decision nearly 3yrs ago and I hope my old Ddog is waiting for your beautiful Goose to play with. They'll have so much fun!

Sending you hugs.
