Dog suddenly itchy ears - poss infection

We noticed yesterday that our dog has been scratching her ears a lot. Booked into vet for Thursday, which is the closest appt we could get.

Today she's a bit out of character - a little bit subdued, not quite as sociable. Her ear looks a little crusty and smells weird.

Ordinarily I'd be back at vets' phone asking to be seen earlier but tomorrow is Sunday, and then Christmas.

What would you do in this circumstance?

Phone the out of hours vet is what I'd do personally

I'd her her seen on Christmas Eve if she wasn't herself. If you leave it until Thursday it could get really bad.

Get her seen today, or you will all have a horrible Christmas. From the sound of it it's not going to get better on its own.

Sorry for not updating.

My husband had a sudden realisation a few hours after posting that she'd rolled in something very unsavoury a couple of days before and maybe he hadn't washed her ear out as thoroughly as required.

She had a very thorough shower and scrub and is fine! I may have been over-reading into some out of character behaviour like staying under the kitchen table... Chances are she'd just taken something she liked there and didn't want to abandon it.

We're still going to the vet on Thurs for a routine check up and fleas/worming treatment.
