Yes. Get professional training is my advice. They’re not an easy dog and you‘ll thank yourself down the line that you did it properly!

That’s not a problem. If old rescues with difficult pasts benefit from professional help then why wouldn’t a nearly 1 year old pup? He’s missed the young puppy training times but that doesn’t mean he’s a write off!

Is there a specific issue you’re looking to train? Or a few?

He really is a trying wee man. He just hates the rain or cold when it's time to walk or poop.🤭🤭🤭

It's mostly his toilet habits. He won't go outside if it's raining, even though we have a shelter. If it's cold, a bit dark or anything different
I have a 12 Ur old dog and he will go out with him and then come in to pee.

When mine gets stubborn about going in the garden we go for a quick walk around the block instead. When the weathers bad this is particularly annoying but needs must.

I found making sure he has a good, warm, well fitting fleece (equafleece are good) or raincoat on makes a world of difference.

Lots of bribery/positive praise works well too.
Cheese for doing a wee works 99% of the time.

Don’t get cross at home for going inside. Do get more thorough about making sure he’s actually going outside; be it in the garden or
on a walk, and make the praise/rewards bigger.

Two miniature dachshunds here exactly the same, I have to pretend that I'm taking them in the car to get them out and for a pee on the driveway 🤦🏼‍♀️

Mine will wee outside in the rain if she has a lead on. In her mind it then counts as a walk, and the “rules” for walks are entirely different!

I love Mini Daschunds but will never get one because the peeing issue would drive me crazy.
