I messaged before about my lovely dog needing to be pts.
Well it happened today. We hoped for it to happen at home but were too far away for them to travel to us.
The vet was so kind, so caring and compassionate.
It was the hardest thing ever but I know it was the kindest thing we could have done.
Thank you everyone for your kind words on my other thread, that really helped me realise it was the best decision.
I already miss him so much though, my house feels quiet and I don’t have him following me around as usual which is so hard.
Sending hugs to anyone else in this horrible situation xx

I haven’t seen your other thread but just wanted to say I am sorry for your loss. It is never an easy decision to make especially if some elements are not what you would have chosen. My ex and I had to take our dog to the vets to be PTS rather than the home visit we had wanted because it was out of hours cover on a bank holiday. Glad your vet was good.

Like any other grieving process it does hurt, and takes time. The Blue Cross have a pet loss support line. I found talking to friends who had the same attitude to pets as me helpful too.

Thank you so much for your reply, I’m absolutely devastated.
I usually manage to keep my emotions in check to be strong for everyone else but i fell apart today; I can ‘hear’ him and I checked the back door was open for him earlier…I even put water in his bowl.
They really are a huge part of the family and he has been with us for 17 years x

So sorry OP.
they really are part of our family. It’s understandable to feel such grief.
