Gone so quickly

My beautiful girl had to be put to sleep on Monday and I am heartbroken. We have had her in our family for 10 years. She has been going backwards and forwards to the vets with a cough and occasional limping since October but I took her back on Saturday as she fell over and couldn't go upstairs. They did repeat bloods and x-rays/ultrasound and she had hemangiosarcoma in her spleen and chest. We brought her home on Sunday but she deteriorated rapidly and we took her back on Monday. The house is so quiet and I am lonely without her. The children and my husband have cried but I keep talking to her and she isn't there. It was so fast! It was the right thing to do as she was in so much pain but I miss her so much.

So sad for you @lula103 . This really is the hardest part of pet ownership. She has a lovely life with you and your family and you proved yourself her best friend when she needed you most. Best wishes. 💐

Oh I'm so sorry. I had similar with my lovely girl cat earlier this year - 4 visits to the vet with an eye problem and then a huge cancer was discovered when we had attended for an appointment with an eye specialist. The specialist did the euthanasia and it was quite a shock outcome for both of us.

I couldn't really believe she had gone for a good month.

I bet you can still feel her with you can't you? Almost see her in her usual spots in rooms. In a way it's a comfort to feel that, you loved her so much. It's such a privilege to share our lives with our pets, they give nothing but love and make our lives brighter.

X

This was us a year ago. Went from perfectly healthy to pts within 3 days.
So horrible when they're gone. Worse in some ways to losing a parent because you're used to them being there all the time, every day. Every time you see something in the corner of your eye, you think it's them. But it isn't. The pain will get less over time, but boy does it hurt. Sending you hugs.
