Dog peanut butter? Reaction?

Our large dog has suspected IBD, that's currently his diagnosis but ongoing.
We have restricted his diet and definitely see that chicken causes him a reaction.

He has been well for several weeks but on Friday we gave him a licky mat with a thin layer of dog peanut butter.
Yesterday he was lethargic, and ate very little but we also had visitors for most of the day which is rare for us.
Today has eaten nothing at all until 4.30, (some rice and part of Gi tin). Upset stomach, so buscopan given, has diarrhoea no vomiting.
Can the peanutbutter cause such reactions? Or possibly the change of routine? Or combination?
When I try to check online it just talks about 'human' peanut butter and its dangers.
Hope someone has some advice x

Friends lab has it, but can't speak as to reaction because he eats everything & never has a bad stomach.

I guess all you can do is get him back to normal then try again.

personally I'd just pass on it & use something else you know he's ok with. I know it's not easy on mats,

What are the ingredients? Some doggy peanut butters contain palm oil and salt which aren't great for dogs.

I give mine peanut butter but it's just one that's 100% peanuts from the supermarket.

@margotrose
It's 97.5% peanuts and palm oil.
I know you have to be careful with human version so never thought of giving him it. Will check that out.

Ours is a lab cross. He's had it before but a long time ago. Thankfully we now have a plan of action when he s poorly so hopefully recovery will be quicker.
I'm not sure I want to cause him upset by giving it to him again but I suppose it's the only way to check if it is causing his reaction.

It really makes me angry that dog food manufacturers use palm oil in their products. Palm oil is not safe for dogs and they shouldn't be eating anything containing it.

If you want to give him peanut butter then it needs to be 100% peanuts, no added extras. I think it's whole earth who make it but you can find some in most supermarkets.

Lidl do a peanut butter that is just peanuts. Cheap as is intended for humans. Check the label.
