insurance advice

So I'm looking at renewing my insurance for DDog. Currently Many Pets £43/month at renewal.. Other "pet" insurers are similar or more.
But going onto comparison sites it can be much cheaper with same cover from let's say Tesco, or Pet Insurance or Every Paw and others I've never heard of. So.. why are we paying more than twice as much to go with "dog insurers" rather than more generalised insurers? Surely they are all under the same rules and regulations when it comes to claims.. Anyone got any experience? I'd much rather pay £150 per year than over £500 for the same cover...

I don't know but I switched to sainsburys bank and got a much better deal than with Many Pets.
Luckily my dog has no pre existing conditions so swapping was not a risk.
I now have £7000 per year per condition cover, on a lifetime policy, instead of £3000.
Also Many Pets policy said £100 excess plus I had to pay 20% which I expect for an older dog not a 3 year old.
My excess with sainsburys is £80.
I have insured with them previously and they always paid out quickly.

Don't blame you for leaving ManyPets, OP. They used to be excellent but something bad is going on there (£100m loss in the last 3 years) and their online reviews are getting trashed from people not getting paid.

Stock answers typed out in repsonse to bad reviews, but it looks like they may be in trouble.

I really hope not - but I would no longer recommend them.

I have no experience with ManyPets but we're with Tesco for all our animals and they've always been excellent.
