Off lead dogs

Urgh, just want a moan.

My boy isn’t a big fan of other dogs, he tolerates them at a distance and I can usually distract him. But walking in a field yesterday some guy had an EBT that came bounding up to my on lead boy.
He was going absolutely daft, and the bloody guy took FOREVER to saunter over, didn’t call his dog away. Total dickhead.

I always muzzle him because he’s a biter when he feels threatened. Really lucky for the EBT.

We’ve had loose dogs harass us before and the owners are usually apologetic and take their dog away quickly, this guy just didn’t give a shit.

Wouldn't a better title have been 'bad experience yesterday' or similar?

Yours just reads like you want another bunfight about off lead dogs in general tbh which has been done to death x 1000. And has no impact - those of us who regularly (responsibly) walk their dogs offlead really don't care how much strangers on the Internet moan about it 🤷‍♀️

Sorry I didn’t know there were rules about thread titles. Please feel free to ignore if you don’t want to read.

I have no axe to grind about responsible owners.

What's an EBT?

What's an EBT?

English bull terrier. Was a lovely dog. Shame the owner was a dick.

I get you OP, it's so frustrating.

I'm a dog walker and get off-lead dogs approaching my on-lead ones most days. People just have no awareness of other people - the other day a man with an off-lead spaniel stood and watched me call my dogs away and put them on leads, then proceeded to let his dog wander over and approach anyway Hmm

Honestly, it makes no bloody sense.

It's the same old same old isn't it..my small dog is always on the lead his recall isn't good but other people let their dogs wander up all the time. My chap is pretty laid back and takes a while luckily to get irritated but it's annoying as you say. I do get a bit anxious when the other dogs are huge though and tend to drag my poor lad away at break neck speed. The other owners are oblivious and would be horrified to read my lips.

Totally agree @Sexnotgender , dogs should only be offlead if the owner / walker has control . Twice in the last 3 weeks my dog has been ‘assaulted’ by an off lead bearded collie being walked by a dog walker , she has absolutely no control , comes out with all the usual nonsense about he’s never done it before ( he has he did it last week !) . Then makes a big song and dance about putting him back on his lead and dragging him away . All I can say is she is lucky that my dog has mellowed with age ( and blood pressure pills ) because a couple of years ago mine would have bitten him .
