Should we go back to the vets?

I have a beabull, and she’s got what’s almost a pocket tail, so it’s very tight and curly and I have to clean it quite often underneath as it gets quite grubby.
I noticed a couple of weeks ago that the ‘front’ of it, or the outer part of it looked like quite sore and she let me clean it but there were a few scabs and it had been bleeding. Over the week I thought it had got infected, it looked really sore and bright red and she wouldn’t let me touch it, so we went to the vets and he said it WAS most likely infected. He gave us five days of antibiotics and said to come back if it wasn’t better.

it did get better, quite noticeably and she chilled out a fair bit, but the course of antibiotics finished a week ago and it still seems to be weeping. It’s not as much as before, it’s not causing her as much discomfort as it was, and it’s not as red and inflamed, but I’m not sure if the weeping is a sign the infection is still there or whether it’s the healing process!

she really hates the vets, so he can’t get a good look at it anyway, but they are also down from three vets to one so appointments are scarce and I don’t want to waste their time unnecessarily!

Go back to the vet. They might give you more antibiotics without needing to examine her again.

Thank you - I’m just so conscious of wasting their time if it’s just the healing process, but yes I think you’re probably right!

Just ring them. Ours would write a repeat prescription for that without needing an appointment.

I have spoken to them, they won’t do a repeat prescription in case she needs a different type of antibiotic, but they have found me an appointment for tomorrow so ill see what that brings!
