We have a nine week old Labrador pup and looking to switch his food to Millies Wolfheart. Has anyone used this brand for a young puppy and how did they get on with it?

We have a lab who is on Millie’s Wolfheart. Although she only went onto it around 7 months as we were living overseas when we got her. Millie’s was the nearest I could find to the food she had been on when we moved. I walk a lot of dogs and I have to say her poos are the nicest to pick up, our old dog trainer also commented on how great her poo was (sorry to much information!). They do have an advice line so you could ring them and ask which food is most suited to your pup.

Our 9 month GSD has been on Millies since she was 3 months old, she loves it and it suits her. It is great food. Their customer service is very helpful, get in touch and they will advise you.

Thanks both - I got in touch with them and they suggested two different foods for him so have ordered a puppy pack with one of them.

Just in case you're new to MN, Puppy Tax is photos!!

(and, of course, totally optional if you really don't want to!!)

My spaniel has been on Millies wolfheart since about 5 months old - she's 2.5 now! She has lovely shiny coat, firm poop and is happy and calm. She has duck & veg as she has some intolerances. We also found some of the 80/20 and 70/30 varieties made her a bit hyper as she didn't need that much protein as she's not working in fields all day. I'd get a few of their £5 bags to try diff flavours and see what your dog likes.

We changed a couple of weeks ago at 14 weeks. They recommended duck and veg, gundog or utility. He seems to like utility over gundog, but the biscuits are a lot bigger than his previous kibble so it did take some getting used to. He also LOVES the turkey training treats (you'll get some in your puppy pack of that's what you ordered?) but doesn't care for the fish ones.

We started on 60/40 moved to 50/50 @ 6 months, as advised. Also had some intolerances, but luckily no problems with any of them and she has loved them al,.

Where’s the photo of the puppy?

ScoobyDoesnt · 28/10/2023 08:55

My springer pup has been on Millies Riverside mix (60/40) since she was 11 weeks, now 5.5 months and thriving. The food she had been on with the breeder was giving her loose poos, but this has really helped - plus she loves it! I have to feed her in a slow feeder bowl as she wolfs it down.

Nochoiceleft · 28/10/2023 09:12

I have an older dog so not really relevant but we had to move her from the food she had been on for years earlier this year as they changed the formula and she flatly refused to eat it.
she had always been a reluctant eater anyway.
she loves the Millie’s and we have to slow her down as she will wolf it down. Also as others said, poos now more as they should be as well.

BigBundleOfFluff · 28/10/2023 13:32

I wished I had moved my pup onto MW a lot sooner. Perfect pick up poo's and lovely shiney coat. I have a retriever so any flavour would do but she does seem to like it.

Thank you all, I got the sample today so will transition over the next couple of days.

Of course you're all right that I've inadvertently committed puppy tax evasion. Payment in full below...
