Can anyone shed light on the process and approximate costs for taking a dog abroad please? Looking to take our 2 to France potentially for Christmas this year but feel Confused at what's involved

They'll both need Rabies vaccinations at least 21 days in advance of travel, then an Animal Health certificate up to 10 days before travelling. Costs for this vary massively so worth looking around - we're paying 150 for two dogs. Then you'll need to arrange worming in France before you return to the UK

Super easy.

Microchip, rabies vaccine (at least 21 days before travel) and an Animal Health Certificate within 10 days of travel.

Before returning to the UK they will need to visit a vet for a tapeworm treatment (and have it recorded on the Animal Health Certificate) at least 24 hours but not more than 120 hours prior to arrival.

If you intend to travel frequently you can get them a EU Pet Passport once abroad. We go across to Europe several times a year and have done this for ours, which eliminates the need for an Animal Health Certificate now. Just always need to get the rabies booster done in the EU as UK vets can no longer many any entries in an EU passport.
