Pet insurance question

Hello, I have pet insurance for my dog but have never had to use it before and have no idea how it works to be honest.
Last night she had a big seizure, I don't need to claim anything now and the vets advice is watch and wait, it could never happen again. Do I need to inform her insurance about this? I've tried going through the policy documents but can't find anything relating to it.
Thank you.

You don't need to inform the insurers (or I wouldn't have to with mine). If the event happens again and you end up making a claim, then the company gets a copy of the health records from the vet. Hope it was an isolated incident.

Ok thank you. And I really hope so.

No, it's not the same as car insurance. I never inform my insurance of anything unless I need to claim and it's never been an issue. They'll get all your records from the vet then ☺️

The insurance company will have a clause in your terms and conditions that tells you how long you can wait to make a claim. For Petplan, it's one year. So you could wait for up to a year then claim all of the costs at once. Or you could claim in stages. It doesn't matter.

Unfortunately thats not how car insurance works. You should have told the insurer even if you didn't make a claim..... any "accident or "incident".

Pet insurance - no idea

I'm pretty sure that's what@margotrose is saying. It's not like car insurance. With pet insurance you only have to tell them if you want to claim. The exception being that if your dog is involved in an aggressive fight you normally have to tell them.

@Lougle oh I thought she meant her car insurance. My bad, sorry!
