my little dog has got just yesterday developed a small hotspot on her neck.

its pale pink and wet, the size of a 20p piece.

I've had dogs all my life but never had to manage a hotspot before, what do I need to do? I can't put the collar on to stop her scratching as it then covers it and the one thing I do know is you're meant to keep them uncovered.

Trim hair away from the area and wash with diluted hibiscrub twice a day. They sell it in most pharmacies and it’s brilliant stuff to have at home. If it doesn’t clear up you will need a steroid cream from the vet

thank you, how long would you give it to heal at home before contacting the vet?

It should start to dry out within a day or so. The hibiscrub is what they would prescribe at the vets to clean it with anyway

Sudacrem is the best thing I found. Our vet agrees. It clears them up in a couple of days.
