Cut Paw Pad

Hi - any experience/stories would be most grateful. We're now in the 3 week mark since our dog cut her paw. Vet opted not to stitch but took the bandages off approx 2 weeks ago to allow the wound air and not risk bandage allergies.

In the house whilst she's resting we out a sock on the wound. Airing it when she's resting. Thankfully she's not interested in licking it. We're sticking to grass as much as we can and she wears a boot when out. When out running you can hardly spot a limp. But in the house when there's no sick on the limp is very noticeable. It's healing well but has some way to go. I'm probably being an anxious parent but the vet said 3 weeks to heal initially and just wondered how long others may have taken to heal and is it normal to limp when their recovering

Thanks in advance

I remember my dog cutting his paw and my god how it bled !
Like your vet mine said its best not to stich it.

My dog was a con artist ! He would would be fine going out on his walk but the closer to home and at home he would limp , sometimes walking on 3 legs holding up his front paw.
Only it was his back paw he cut ! Con artists ? yes , smart ? No so much 😀

Leave the sock on indoors? You dog probably appreciates the extra bit of padding as it must be sore, even though it's healing.

I wouldn't let her run about outside if she's still clearly limping indoors. She should probably be on calm lead walks until she's fully healed.

Pad cuts take a month or two to get better.

Socks, boots, packing - whatever is necessary

We did lots of sprinkling food on the floor, dinner time was suspended for the best part of a month.
