Awful . Bull mastiff this time

I own 2 dogs but this predates lockdown , I do think lockdown is to blame for much of the spate of dog ownership where by owners didn't socialise or train their animals and then just went back to work and daily life without having a clue what it means for their pets

I really think we need a dog registry. I and any responsible,owners would be ok with that I'm sure . All dogs should be mandatory chipped, registered and safe in public.

This has made me so bloody angry - this man, desperately trying to defend his own dog by a busy road and being tripped/ppulled over, gives me the shivers.

I disagree about the registry (kind of) because I don't think tracking the dog will help. Personally, I think the owner needs to be the one registered - you should need to prove you know what the hell a dog is and needs before you get one.

We already have compulsory microchipping which appears to have done bugger all.

No amount of legislation will work if it's not enforced. And given that the cops can't even enforce the law against shoplifting these days, I'm not holding my breath.

The law is pretty much meaningless if it's not enforced. As PP said mandatory microchips are already a thing but nobody ever checks. My beagle was scanned at his first puppy appointment but he's never been checked since and he's nearly six now.

There are also thousands of dogs out there who aren't chipped and who never see a vet so how on earth anyone expects them to be registered anywhere is beyond me really.
