My boys been diagnosed with a heart murmur

I'm terrified.
It's grade 4.
Hes not eating and he's got diarrhoea.
Hes been prescribed furosemide but unsure if that will help.
Does anyone have any knowledge of this?

Only grade one so probably can’t help, but I’ll try. How old is he? Diagnosed straight at 4, nothing previous?

When my Jack Russell was 12 he was diagnosed with heart murmur.. he was on medication for four years. Lived until he was 16 a good age.

So sorry My last god dog had a heart murmur, started medication at 10 and was put to sleep at 12 which is a good age for her breed.

Any reason why he's just on the Furosemide rather than Vetmedin or alongside it?

Vetmedin is the actual heart medication, my dog was on that first, then eventually we had to incorporate the Furosemide as it's a diuretic that flushes away all of the excess fluid build up that the enlarged heart causes.

Hope you DDog feels better soon it so horrible seeing them unwell.

@BeansOnToast32 unsure why just those meds,he's back to vets on Monday ill ask then.

Sorry to hear this about your poor dog. My dog is nearly 14 and has a grade 3/4 heart murder. So far she is not showing any symptoms so not on medication. Obviously we are monitoring this. Do you think the diarrhoea isa separate issue?
