Dog brought in dead bird

So today I accidentally stepped on a dead bird that my golden retriever brought into the house. Just want to vomit! Any advice on disinfecting the house/my shoes? Should I take my dog to the vet? For what it’s worth, I think the bird was already dead before my dog came across it.

If you're that bothered, a bit of disinfectant spray will do the job for the floor and your shoes.

You dog didn't eat it, so I really wouldn't worry. Even if your dog had eaten it, it would be unlikely to be a problem.

A bit of Dettox. And, with the greatest of respect-what do you think Retrievers retrieve?

So your retriever retrieved ? My friends old retriever used to retrieve underwear from the laundry basket and drop it on the neighbours drives 😬

I mean, it's a retriever, that's what they do Grin

I wouldn't do anything apart from get rid of the dead animal and make sure the dog is up to date on its' worming treatment.

My dog has eaten all sorts - his most impressive was killing and eating a rabbit for breakfast on his morning walk, lol.

Haha it’s never nice seeing a dead bird, let alone having it in your living room! Thanks all

My two were sharing the remains of a decomposing leveret this afternoon.
