I've lost yet another Tractive tracker :(

Well I can see the location..but it's in the middle of a wood and the chances of finding it are next to zero. That's the reason she wears one.
Does anyone have a solution for fixing a tractive tracker so that it can't be dislodged? My dog usually wears it on her harness. She does wear it on her collar sometimes but this is the second one we have lost!

Can you cable tie it on?

My first thought, too.
I don't have trackers but I've lost name tags over the years. We cable tie onto the collar now.

Nothing to do with the thread but how are people picking up their dogs poo when the dog is out of their sight ? Equally how do you know that your dog is not bothering other people / wildlife if you cannot see it .

Motorina · 28/08/2023 12:41

I have mine on a seperate collar. It's held on with elastic bands as well as the (totally useless) tractive clips.

You could compete in the Olympic with a leap like that.

How is it a leap , if your dog is in your sight then you would see the tracker fall off .

We have the Julius K9 harnesses, which have a little strap thingy you can wedge the tracker under.

They are rubbish fixings though, we've lost one in the past off a different style harness

Are you kidding? They're tiny!

I could see my dog across the field enough to know if they were pooing (though they wouldn't be, the toileting is the first job lol) but I wouldn't be able to see the tracker fall off

Floralnomad · 28/08/2023 13:07

Fair enough , the only ones I’ve seen are quite large

WillWeSeeTheSunAgain · 28/08/2023 13:09

Crikey - we have an absolute lunatic cocker and the Tractive tracker has never fallen off. We have it on a collar though. A neoprene padded collar.

WillWeSeeTheSunAgain · 28/08/2023 13:10

(It's quite thick the collar so the tracker bits that fix it are stretched - I imagine if they were loose it would fall off)

My dogs never poo on their morning walks, they go first thing before we leave the house.

Sonolanona · 28/08/2023 16:09

Found it!!
Dh tracked it back to a style we had crossed, and it was lying there. I think as she went under the style it must have caught and popped off.I'm now going to sew it a little pouch that will be sewn onto the top of her harness.

And FYI Floralnomad...

1)Dog was on a long line at the time .
2) Tracker is small
3) Dog on longline poos in woods.... she's not gone on a 5 mile hike by herself> I can SEE her.
4) I walk my dog in places I know are safe and we are unlikely to see deer. And yes she goes off lead once she has had a poo (she's predictable with those.. as soon as we arrive)
Yes she chases rabbits. Never caught one, never will but likes go go sticking her nose down rabbit holes.

So please enjoy your quantum leap. My dog has a tracker because she does enjoy off lead life in a responsible manner and it makes me feel safer.

As I said @Sonolanona , I didn’t realise they were that small , the only ones I’ve seen have been on cats and are fairly large . I also was making a general point not having a pop at you so I don’t think there is any need to be so rude . Pity MN a has got like this now when people ask a genuine question .

FuckingHellAdele · 28/08/2023 18:03

I've not seen cat ones, but the Tractive dog trackers are maybe matchbox size.

This is a pic of my two from only a few feet away, and I don't think you can make out whether the trackers are there or not. Well, I can't with my eyesight!
