So my 1 yr old ddog has torn his cruciate ligament and is due to have TPLO surgery in a couple of weeks...
He's a very active mixed breed and I understand he'll need to be crated for at least a month.
He's crate trained but usually it's only if we're out, we're getting shopping in/tidying or he needs a time out. He will literally cry, whine, howl to be with us all the time.
The vet recommended lick mats, puzzle toys etc but I'm wondering if it's worth getting calming treats? A plug in? Should he wear a onesie while healing? Should we get him a support brace? Is there anything I can do to help him understand he's not being punished?
All advice greatly appreciated.
