Hyperpigmentation?

Hi all,
We rescued a foreign dog a few months ago and she is a mixed breed. I would liken her colourings to a German shepherd.

She has been moulting recently with the warmer weather which is fine but I have noticed some darker patches on her skin. I'm not sure if these were here before, maybe they were disguised by her thicker coat? and now I'm doubting myself. I have read about hyperpigmentation and have booked to see the vet tomorrow for a check up but wondered what others thought? And if I'm being silly?

We have always had black coated dogs previously so maybe this is just part of her colourings and I'm getting worried for nothing, but also don't want to ignore it if there's something underlying issue going on.

The patches are around her groin, where her leg meets her body, under her armpits and a couple on her neck.
What are your thoughts? Pics attached.
Thank you

It just looks like her skin to me?

It’s pretty normal for dogs to have different colour skin if their fur isn’t all one colour. Obviously if it wasn’t like that before it could be something, but it looks normal to me...

Thank you for your reply.
I keep thinking it's nothing and normal skin but I'm also convinced it's much darker than it was, and she does also dig and itch a lot.
We were told itching was a stress reaction to the travel from abroad but she does dig quite a bit, even now 3 months in.
Hopefully there may be some German shepherd owners on here who can confirm this is completely normal 🙏🥴

For reference that’s my dog 🤣 he’s a foreign rescue, probably something shepherdy... his baldy bits (as in where he doesn’t have fur) were bright pink at 5 months when I got him and he’s now about 2 1/2

I’m not saying don’t get it checked, just I wouldn’t panic overly either

Ah thank you. What a lovely doggy!
I'm quite anxious about taking her to the vets as she is so super nervous of humans that I don't want to put her through the stress of seeing a vet over something that's actually nothing!
The pictures I took weren't great either 🤦‍♀️

Yeah, mine is not a fan of people that aren’t us...so I try and limit vets visits to essentials.

Id just watch that and see if it does anything, if not, get it checked when you have to go anyway .

Thanks all, I will keep an eye on it.
The patches seem symmetrical both sides so thinking maybe it is just her skin.
I managed to take a better pic of her belly this morning when she jumped up on me.
She also has all different coloured claws, which she always had since we got her so maybe she's just a bit multi coloured! X

Honestly, that looks totally normal to me!

They do change colour a bit as they age and depending on the time of year.

In fairness my current two are my first of my own that aren’t black... and I got mine looked at at one of his first vet appointments going, is that sore? Or just the colour of his skin?

My vet was just like 😐 that’s his skin 🤣

But black dogs are very uniform I’ve found compared to other colours.

Our beagle's skin goes visibly darker in summer - especially on his belly. He goes blotchy like a cow - I tell them they're his naughty spots Grin

Looks normal in those locations.
