pretty, comfortable dog harness recommendations

DDog is 10 and doesn’t pull, he’s a shih tzu and not very active, so I’d love some recommendations for a pretty, comfortable harness for him— preferably with matching lead. Thanks!

Any harness I've ever seen that might be described as 'pretty' also looks ill-fitting and poorly designed. A bad harness is damaging to your dog's shoulders and probably not safe either.

Perfect Fit do coloured harnesses, if that is 'pretty' enough. Beyond that, I would concentrate on getting a good harness, not an attractive one.

Colours are definitely pretty enough, I just hate ones like Julius K9 with massive writing on and all black. Comfort for my dog is no.1

I'd look at Perfect Fit then - all the bits come separately so, whilst it's a bit complicated, you will get the best fit once you work out what you need. I went to someone who fits them, but I think they offer decent advice too if you look at website.

Definitely Perfect Fit - they come in loads of colours and don't restrict movement like lots of other brands.

I use Red Dingo ones for my little ones, lots of designs, very comfortable & don’t ruin their long coats by rubbing & causing matts. Amazon sell them

Julius K9 are the absolute worst. SO restrictive and so easy for them to escape. Perfect fit is probably the way forward or a Y harness custom made from Etsy? There are some shops who do lovely designs

They look like they go across the shoulder which is super restrictive.

I know someone who used to make stunning made to measure harnesses that were Y shaped but she gave up do to various supplier issues etc

Definitely Perfect Fit, each of the 3 pieces that make up the harness can be individually fitted, my dog’s is three differently sizes 😊and fits brilliantly.

Julius k9 harnesses are super comfy and lightweight. My dog has a lilac one and a pink one. I’ve yet to find another that’s anywhere near as good.

JuliusK9 harnesses are really bad for dogs' joints. They restrict movement in the shoulders and cause lots of problems.

The juliusk9 are just really ugly. A harness is not a doggy fashion accessory so you need it to be well fitting practical and comfortable. My dog has 3 T touch harness however he found that rubbed, a perfect fit and a Copenhagen so all have the Y at the front so it’s not restricting joints he also doesn’t have a matching lead the perfect fit and Copenhagen both have padding which he much prefers.

My two spanners have got Ruffwear harnesses. They're perfect for walking as well as clipping into their car leads.

This Etsy shop has a harness with Shih Tzu print, they have matching collar and lead ❤️ Harness I have a cocopup harness and a Red Dingo one, he also will get a hand me down perfect fit but it's still a tad too big for him at the moment for my Shih Tzu pup

Buddy Belt. Beautiful soft leather and you can buy matching leads. They are the harness of choice for dachshund owners but look good and are comfortable on all dogs.

Ours has a pink K9 harness with matching lead. The new puppy has a tiny blue one.
