we lost our lovely cocker spaniel earlier this year.
i know we should get a rescue dog and have seen a group on facebook called english cocker spaniel rehoming.
the dogs all seem to be puppies
they want to make a home visit but there just doesn't seem much information and i wondered if any one had any experience or insight /advice i really don't insdvertsupport a puppy farm situation

Those Facebook groups tend to be scams and all the photos are stolen from Google.

ToBeOrNotToBee · 10/07/2023 16:41

Scammers set up those groups to scam deposits from people

Avoid FB! Do you want a pup? If so show or working cocker? Contact breed club. If not set on a pup look up breed specific rescues. Breed club may also be able to point you in that direction. Sadly Many Tears often seem to get cockers in. Breeders of cocker poo crosses dumping them. 😔

If you're looking to go the puppy route for a specific breed, go via the Kennel Club breed clubs, then you shouldn't get conned or end up with a puppy farm dog.

Tons of dogs in rescue at the moment, to the point rescues cannot cope with the intakes and are having to turn dogs away. There's always Spaniels in rescue, although you may have to deal with some behavioural challenges that come with Spaniels such as resource guarding.

Oh please have a look at Spaniel Aid, they have a Facebook page, they are legitimate and safe, and have a thorough write up of each dogs history, temperament, and how they've been in foster.
Good luck!

BanditsOnTheHorizon · 10/07/2023 17:24

Have a look at Yappy Ever After on Facebook, it's a charity we got our dog from and we also help out with. They often have similar dogs come up for adoption.

Newpeep · 10/07/2023 17:33

I'd contact Spaniel Aid

Wolfiefan · 10/07/2023 17:56

Local rescues may also have spaniels in. Good luck OP.
