My dog barking

Hi,

I have a 2 yr old CKCS, she seems to have taken a dislike to next door neighbour dog and now will be barking mad through fence at him.

She is un-spade atm, also has come into season this week and so her general manners, obedience and listening are not as good as usual. However she has/is progressively becoming worse as now she will fly out door barking whether he is there or not.

She is very dog friendly but quite anxious, ok protective of us and home and will bark at unknown people at door or people coming into house.

She loves every dog she has met out on walks , regularly plays with various other dogs in dog fields walks and friends homes. However she has not ever met next door neighbour dog as he is a bit grumpy (next door neighbour's words), he is also a very barky dog, watering garden, loud noises, postman, deliveries etc, he will bark and then my dog starts up too.

So where do I start in addressing her behaviour and barking in garden, at the moment we are bringing her in. I've left her a short time to see if they will clear air - but that doesn't seem to have worked - she is general is quite submissive, they can't see each other through fence, completely blocked in.

I don't want to get a behaviourist in yet, as we are moving in a month, and so this issue will cease to exist, however there is a dog next door to our new house - although due to fencing there it will be a while before she is free to roam around (on lead in garden for a while).

Any ideas, I can't work through while we are still here ?

An Adaptil collar can help if the barking is stress/anxiety related, might be worth a try.

I’ve trained my dogs the shhh command from puppyhood, you can do with an adult dog but might take a bit longer. Simply every time she barks say shhh and when she stops, reward her. You’ve got to get the timing right. After a while pause a few seconds and then reward so she learns slowly to be quiet for longer periods of time.

If you're moving in a month I would just stop letting her out unsupervised and bring her in when she starts up (you could use a lead to make it as easy as possible).
