Adopted our puppy 10 months ago. Apparently mother was a springer but no one knows what the father was. She's great so this is just for fun .

I have friends who have a pointer and there are a lot of similarities there.

Cocolapew · 15/06/2023 18:20

Pointer, I have a lab/pointer cross.

She is an absolute beauty, lab/pointer would be my guess

RosaCaramella · 15/06/2023 18:29

Pointer was my first thought. Gorgeous dog. 🐶❤️

Random789 · 15/06/2023 18:45

Labrador was my first thought.

cathyandclare · 15/06/2023 18:49

That head is my working strain lab photoshopped onto another body!

Itisyourturntowashthebath · 15/06/2023 18:55

What's her recall like?
Generally stays within 50m, back in a flash for a treat - a lab.
Generally stays within 400m, reasonably indifferent to the concept of recall - pointer.

Charliecatpaws · 15/06/2023 19:05

I've no idea but just want say she's a beauty

hedgehoglurker · 15/06/2023 19:24

We used Wisdom Panel DNA tests for our 3 rescues. Turned out that two are full brothers! Adopted separately at different times from the rescue, they came from different litters, 15 months apart. They don't look particularly similar as different builds, hair etc, so a big surprise to us.

Yours looks a bit similar, but photos are small on the Android app. Our two are Cocker & Springer x JRT, with a bit of Lab. The third is mostly JRT x Cocker.

gemandjule · 15/06/2023 19:34

@Itisyourturntowashthebath . That's really interesting.. definitely the latter. Wanders all over, always comes when called but very much at her own pace and on her terms and has no interest in coming to hand for the treat unless she actually wants to come back.

@hedgehoglurker that's fascinating too. The woman we dealt with in the rescue actually kept our dogs brother. She sent a photo to us the other day. I'm not sure I could tell them apart. This is a photo of her brother

Haha! We've got one of those....although he's face is much more grey now as he's an old boy at 9 years. He's also a bit smaller so think he's probably a JRT x Springer rather than lab or pointer cross

I'm thinking lab or pointer . She's lovely .

Itisyourturntowashthebath · 15/06/2023 19:45

Also tail girth. Lab tails are like a forearm, pointer tails are slimmer and like a whip.

If dad is a lab, he is a working lab.

Hotandverybothered · 15/06/2023 19:49

She really is beautiful and I definitely think she has a Lab face .

saveforthat · 15/06/2023 19:51

Gorgeous. This reminds me of two little dogs I saw at a dog show, they looked like little Rottweilers. They were a cross breed Rottweiler/King Charles spaniel.

Itisyourturntowashthebath · 15/06/2023 20:24

Are her toes webbed?

Haha this made me snort in recognition Grin

katmunchkin · 15/06/2023 20:28

I have a German Pointer, that's definitely what I'm seeing, rather than Lab ❤️

Azaeleasinbloom · 15/06/2023 20:28

Brothers face looks very like my lab. Very beautiful dogs.

Azaeleasinbloom · 15/06/2023 20:31

Sorry - here he is.

EdithStourton · 15/06/2023 20:39

As other say, pointer. I'd go one further and say German shorthaired pointer. If there is lab there, it's probably working line.

GSPs are wired to hunt. If she works the wind (that is, runs to and fro across it), air-scenting as she goes, you've probably got GSP genes to contend with.

GSPs are also notoriously talkative - I know one who gives a constant running commentary when a walk is in the offing.

Itisyourturntowashthebath · 15/06/2023 20:48

Mines a GSP x GWP same colouring. Plus her dad.

Before I read what you said about a sprinter my guess was Labrador/Pointer.
