Ford Kuga for a large dog?

Evening all, need to change my car from a completely unsuitable one as we have just rather unexpectedly taken on a dog.

He's a BIG, very tall Labrador. Does anyone have a KUGA with a large dog?

I dont own a Kuga but the main issue with some SUV's is the height from the ground. So a young dog or older dog would need to be lifted in and out or use ramp etc.

Some SUV seem to have a lip on the boot which dogs have to get over.

I would think a kuga boot should be big enough for 1 lab if it is only used for the dog.

Thank you. It's got a level load to the boot so no lip.

Think I'll try and find someone with one and see if he can finger in and fit nicely 😊

Came on to ask when ddog passed his driving test!!

This is my Ford Kuga with my friend’s lab and my spaniel happily in the boot!

Encourage him to take one for a test drive, although I do hear Rovers are very popular with most dogs 🤔

I had a kuga and the same set up as maplewillowtrees above. My lab had plenty of space. However as she's got older she needs to be lifted in/out of an SUV.

Mm not sure about a Ford.. ... Ndn has a dachsund who drives a Mini..

I had a 2011 Kuga and the boot was absolutely massive. I used to get my boss's Lab in there, plus my large (collie sized) cross breed, and my mum's little Cairn - plenty of room for all. I sold the car for parts when the gearbox failed and downsized to an Ecosport which has a tiny boot I can barely squeeze one dog in.

He is exceptionally clever. Insurance is quite high though Grin

I have a Kuga and a 30kg dog, she fits just fine 😀

Spanielsarepainless · 11/06/2023 08:07

The only caveat would be the boot lip being quite high. I went for a C-Max as it's easier with the lower lip as they get older and less able to hop in.

Thanks all!!

We had a kuga with a 45kg bulldog, he fit in fine, and settled quite quickly on a journey. He use to take a run up to jump in and when he got older we lifted him in and out, but apart from that it was perfect for him. His tub bed used to fit in too so he would curl up in that for shorter journeys (to kennels usually).
