This was so heartwarming yesterday

(Unfortunately) we are fairly regular visitors to a Specialist Veterinary Hospital because ddog has an incurable heart condition.

We were there again yesterday and whilst waiting in the waiting room, a lovely big dog with 3 legs was brought out from the consulting rooms to be reunited with his family.

Accompanied by a little bit of fanfare and a few nurses, the dog was wearing one of those cardboard cone party hats, had a rosette on its collar and a certificate proclaiming “last chemotherapy session” (or something like that).

I almost melted 🥰

Yes! It’s such a place full of emotion, beautiful dogs always, (and cats but they’re in their carriers) owners worried, nervous, it’s a sad but also happy place because of the staff.

I have something in my eye...that's so lovely. I hope he has a long and happy life with his family 💛

@Davestwattymissus i have something in my eye whenever we go. It’s often a place where owners are saying goodbye to their beautiful pets (you can just tell) and my god, that always gets me.

Snooks1971 · 03/06/2023 19:10

Every animal there has been referred by their usual Veterinary practice because specialist care is needed, every poor dog has the usual shaved front arms for cannulas or tummies/sides. Dogs with hoists (?) so they can walk on their back legs…

@Mrsjayy I always am! Heightened emotions anyway because of stress about ddog 😢

My friend had to have her dog put down last week. When she came out of the room there was a candle lit at reception with a notice saying something like ‘if this candle is lit it means that someone is saying goodbye to their friend. Please try to be quiet and respectful’.

Mrsjayy · 03/06/2023 19:14

I had a dog who need specialist care it's is an emotional process to go through.

Snooks1971 · 03/06/2023 19:20

It’s not a club any one of us want to be in is it, what was so lovely was witnessing the good news and happiness for one family.

So, so sad. I’ve seen this at vets practices before (I’m 50+ and have many beautiful pets and been in that situation).

Unfortunately I think they are glad to see the back of my ddog when he's at the referral vet, he has a vendetta against all veterinary healthcare professionals! He's got more orthopaedic surgery soon, don't think they are that keen to have him

Oh no!! Tell us more. Is he like our ddog who has to be carried in…at almost 30kg?
