Dog bike trailer experiences

Going on a caravan holiday and it will be the first time with 18 month lab, super excited. Before the pup we always took bikes with us and went on cycle track rides along the coast.

Dog has been to the beach before and would love it but obviously he wont be able to run along behind us on the bikes bless him.

My bright idea is to get a dog trailer. DH will tow the the dog and then he get will get out when we reach a bay for a run and a paddle.

Reservations - I'm not sure if he will be happy strapped in a trailer and also he weighs 29kg and bike trailers seem to be for smaller dogs.

Any thoughts or experiences appreciated.

How far do you ride?

Why cant he run alongside?

We used a doggy hut with our elderly 30kg dog

You will have to get him used to the trailer. Get him to sit in it still and gradually add movement. It takes a while for them to be happy in them

One of the routes is 11 miles along the coast on a cycle track there are bays and places to stop off at. It would be too far for him to run .

Doggy hut looks good thank you

Thank you that's good advice. I would need to get it well in advance and build up.

He doesn't do a lot of travelling. We live near a field and walk everywhere so he doesn't go in the car often either.

Dog has started to go running with DH so does know how to follow along and he is a fit dog . But the distance we would cycle would be too far.
