Does this dog walking accessory exist?

So I usually wear a bum bag when I walk ddog, to carry her treats, poo bags, and my phone. However I would love something that I could also put my coffee cup in. I like to have my hands free to deal with her, she’s off lead most of the time but sometimes I need to grab her and out her lead. Also it’s hard to hold a coffee and pick up the poo! Am I asking for the impossible or does anyone have something I don’t know about?

I use a running belt with bottle/ drinks holder.
It's more slimline than a bumbag but still big enough for phone, keys, treats , poo bags and ball.

Poppins2016 · 15/05/2023 11:45

What about a flask with a wrist strap? If you Google it, loads of options come up.

MissyB1 · 15/05/2023 12:00

That’s definitely the kind of thing I need but the drinks part doesn’t look like it would fit my travel coffee cup unfortunately.

@MissyB1 might it be easier to get the belt you want and change your cup since there might be a better choice of cup than belt

This is a very useful thread OP!
I shall be watching with interest.
My reusable coffee cup is too big and when I buy a coffee with a disposable cup it doesn't really fit into anything plus it has the risk of spilling everywhere.
I've tried to fill up a small water bottle with home made coffee but I didn't enjoy drinking coffee from a bottle.
I often give up on the coffee because it's so inconvenient to walk 2 dogs, deal with the poo bags, occasionally use the phone etc when we go on off the lead walks.
I have occasionally taken a small rucksack with a small thermos flask but it's a right pain as I have to stop.

I'd like a cross body reusable coffee cup that doesn't leak. If it even exists!

MissyB1 · 15/05/2023 12:13

Oooh yes this looks the business!

Treasureboxkey · 15/05/2023 12:15

Would you be better with a drinks holder that can be worn around your neck or cross body?
I would be worried about tipping my drink out or burning my stomach when ending over to pick up poo if it was on a belt.

Yes rucksacks are a pain and not really suited to dog walking.

Highly recommend Contigo Westloop cups - tall and thin so usually fit in any holder in a car etc., large capacity and never leak.

OnTheHamsterWheelOfDoom · 15/05/2023 12:34

Contigo cups are fantastic for staying hot and never leaking even when rolling around on my front passenger seat. You could chuck it in your bag or clamp it between your knees.

MissyB1 · 15/05/2023 13:19

@Treasureboxkey actually that’s a good point.

Why not just take a bottle of water & then have a nice cup of coffee after your walk? I feel like I need an octopus to help with the dog & all the necessary bits without adding coffee into the mix! A nice sit down & a good coffee afterwards suits me much better.

Tbh in the summer that’s probably what I’m likely to do, but on freezing cold winter days a hot drink helps.

you might be alright but I am very clumsy and would definitely do myself a mischief.

There are lots of cross body ones on Amazon.

No one would market a bag as being able to hold a hot drink for this reason (and fear of being sued when it inevitably happens). Dogs skin is more easily burnt than humans.

UnaLaguna · 15/05/2023 13:56

In the winter I use a rucksack. Extra layer for me and the dog in the rucksack, it has side pockets that hold my Contigo flask and pockets in the waist belt that fit phone, keys, poo bags, treats. I can reach the coffee without having to take the rucksack off.

coffeecupsandwaxmelts · 15/05/2023 14:44

I really wouldn't put a hot coffee on a waist belt - all it takes is for you not to close it properly and you could scald yourself and your dog.

CantBeArsedOrAsked · 15/05/2023 16:01

I find it hard enough to grapple with gloves, poo bags, treats and on-lead dog. Couldn't cope with adding a hot drink into the mix.
Also I'm at the age when I wouldn't enjoy a cup of coffee unless it's accompanied by a Nice Sit Down.

BellatrixLestrangesHeatedCurlers · 15/05/2023 16:04

OP forgive me but I'm picturing a foam-dome-esque contraption with two espressos either side and laughing to myself at my desk.

I hope you find something suitable.

purpleclaire · 15/05/2023 17:45

I like the look of this, shame there isn't a photo of a model wearing it on the website. Is it bulky?

MissyB1 · 15/05/2023 18:12

Yes I’m beginning to realise I just need to either walk near a nice dog friendly cafe, or wait till I get home.

QuetzalTerfLus · 15/05/2023 20:45

I take a flask of tea out with me in the winter. It’s a Contigo so am confident I am not going to scald anyone - it won’t pour unless you are pushing down the button. Mine fits in my crossbody bag (a skater brand one I stole from my teens - it’s the perfect size for me) but you could also buy something like this:

Useful for keeping water cool in the summer too.
