Very old dog with lumps?

Out lovely Westie is 15 now. He seems quite happy, albeit sleeps most of the day, is quite deaf and very skinny/bony. Doesn't want to go for walks etc but will potter around the garden.

He has had a lump like wart we think on his side for years that the vet was unconcerned about which seems a bit bigger, and has recently developed one on his forehead as well. Now this doesn't seem to phase him, but it does crust/ooze a bit, looks a bit like 'eye bogies', quite dark in colour like his. Every now and then when I give him a wash it looks a bit more like blood.

Obviously I'm taking him to the vet, just waiting on an appointment. But at his age, what can I expect? Is this just an inevitable part of aging or are they likely to be more concerned?

He's our first dog and very much part of the furniture, so this has been playing on my mind as we want to do what is right by him.
