Do you and your Ddog get sick together?

Ddog is seriously poorly, in terms of he has lymphoma. but I have noticed on more than one occasion that the dog and I have been physically unwell at the same time. Is this weird or a common occurrence? We do have a lot of close contact with each other.

Last night ddog woke up at 3am urgently needing to go, he was being unwell in the bathroom. I let him outside in the garden to go some more, and at this point realised I also had a bad stomach ache, which got worse and worse and I have also been violently unwell all day. No one else in my house is sick either!

When I had covid he was also unwell with a bad stomach at the same time I was, and he’s also had a cold at the same time as me before. My family think I am going bonkers

perhaps I need to wash my hands more or he’s licking me in the mouth when I am asleep! 🤢

I think I you have identified the problem. Too much mouth contact.

Humans and dogs can be infected with the same bugs - it's much more likely to be that than anything else.

You can transmit stomach bugs to each other. My vet always asks if other people in household have been unwell when I've presented my dog with an upset stomach.

He is such a ‘licky’ dog, it’s so hard to get him to stop licking you. I’ve got him to stop jumping up to lick me in the mouth but he will if he gets super over excited. I’ve also caught him with his head in my drink of water before (so now always have a lid cup at bed). Thanks darling dog for the transmission of this bug - he’s better and I am not!

If you have caught something off the dog you may find you need antibiotics or similar to kill the infection as dogs tend to be much hardier than us in that respect.

Hopefully you'll feel better in a few days but if not it would be worth a visit to the doctor.
