I'm at my wits end at the moment due to increased car trips with my dogs so they get a decent run and as a result my car is a filthy muddy hairy mess!
I like my little hatchback but am becoming resigned to the fact I would be better off with some kind of people carrier, which seems a bit drastic as one of my three little dogs is very elderly and may not be around for very long.
How do other people manage? I've got cradle seat covers but they get chewed and moved around and don't seem to help much. Any ideas and what cars or equipment do people recommend?
TIA

For small dogs, I've used crates within the car to contain them.

For larger dogs, they've gone in the boot which has been covered with a rubber lining and then vet fleece. I just accept the boot is always going to be muddy!

My dogs have always travelled in the back behind a dog guard. Thick boot liner then lots of towels. Keeps the mud and hair in one place.

Dogs in the boot. Vet fleece.

Crates or leather seats so they're wipeable and easy to clean.

Lab on the back seat of my Audi TT. I've got a seat cover but yep full of mud and sand and smells of wet dog and kibble 😕 I'm just pleased we made it work though as I thought I'd have to sell my car and buy something a bit dull by comparison!! 😀

I have a dog bed in the boot (Fiat Panda 4x4)
However at this time of year it does smell doggy!

Thanks for all your replies- very helpful. I'm going to look at Hatchbags and see how my lot are together in the boot area whilst I still have three of the muddy monkies but you have helped me see I don't need to size up my car!

I have two Sleepypods. Three in one car seat, bed and pet carrier. Crash tested. Only good for small dogs. Not cheap but dogs are enclosed in the car.
