Dog scared of any bangs

Despite everything we tried ,my poor boy is scared of anything that sounds like could be a firework this not limited to fireworks/thunder or bird scarers includes cricket ball hitting a board or football bouncing of field protector etc and this affects him all year now used be short time after fireworks but not any more

Older he gets the worse he is ends up shaking with fear even if he is indoors and can hear it
Is nearly 9 now
Did try the fireworks at quiet then turn up type of thing but he ends up in a blind panic even at the slightest noise of anything
Any tips please so he not spend 11 months of the year in fear and struggling for walks

(Should add do go away with him fireworks weekend as is horrendous here )

My old Greek rescue used to be like this (in rural Greece dogs and cats often get shot at by hunters). She never got over it but a helpful vet gave me some sedative-calmers that I used at firework times (which used to be many times a year in my area). They stopped being able to prescribe that medication but they can probably offer something similar. My old girl, who was a large sort if sheepdog mix, used to try to climb inside the wardrobe in desperation on firework nights or during thunderstorms. People also sometimes suggest "thunder jackets" I don't know if they help.

I came on to say thunder jacket. I hope your find a solution, must be awful

My spaniel has got worse for this as he has got older and he's nine and a half. I ended up getting Trazodone from the vet, which took the edge off his panic, and tried a thunder vest.
