I have a 5 year old pug.
A breed known to have dental issues (along with all the other ones!) and from puppy age she never liked having her teeth looked at and brushing was out of the question (super hard to actually get inside a pugs mouth). So instead I made sure she had raw carrots, added in dry food to reduce plaque, yakker bones, natural raw chews (rabbits ears etc), raw bones. The drops to put in water. Everything I could think of and the vet suggested.
Up to last year her teeth were fine. Then last month she had a check up and the vet found her canine was super loose, as in twisted up next to the gum. And it became clear all her teeth were in a bad way.
We are waiting for the surgery now to get the tooth out (and other teeth too I expect) but I just don’t understand what happened for them to get so bad like this. Has this happened to anyone else’s dog? I feel like the worst pet owner.
