Myself and Husband have a bet on .. whoever gets best in show wins a 20 minute back massage. Two choices each so with 4 places one of us is bound to get at least one!

Come on Blanca or Delia 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

I was under the impression that you won lots of money, I didn't realise it was £100!!

It's been £100 for the Best in Show winner for as long as I can remember!

Unlike the USA, the UK dog show scene just doesn't 'do' prize money. Our non dog show friends think we're all mad trailing round the country spending a fortune on entries and fuel all for a prize card and maybe a rosette if we're lucky 😁

At Crufts every day, it was superb!

Eta.. The reason being is its an amateur sport and we want to keep it that way... A shit ton of prize money shifts it into professionalism which would eventually ruin the hobby or at least completely dismantle it and lose its charm.

The winning dogs (and their parents and any future offspring) will become more valuable as Crufts winners, so indirectly there is a financial reward.

Yes, agree. I've been a few times, I absolutely love it!

That's not actually the case. Most breeders who show charge the same regardless. Dog showing is an expensive hobby that the very vast majority do for the love of the sport and for most people the costs of it would far exceed any most people paid for litters.

Stud fees for a Best of Breed winner are usually at least double the normal market rate, plus there is added demand.
