Dog going toilet in the house at night - how to stop?!

I have a 3-year-old Cocker Spaniel who is house-trained. She has breakfast at half past 6 and dinner at half past 4, so before and after our work. She goes to a dog sitter Monday - Friday at 7.30 am, is collected at 4 pm and is walked regularly. She sleeps alone in the kitchen and goes to bed at half past 10, when we do, and gets up at 6.15 am. She likes her routine!

For some reason, she has started to go to the toilet in the house at night time. In the evening, she will have a poo in the garden but we will wake up to 1, 2, or even 3 poos in the kitchen and wees.

She has dog food only, is not overfed, is the correct weight, and is wormed regularly. There is no change in her character or her environment. She loves the outdoors and can sometimes be outside in the garden for 20 minutes smelling every little thing before going to bed at night.

How do I stop this?

Have you changed her food or if not have they changed a recipe? Lily’s for example has been bought out by Nestlé

First I would have a vet appointment just to check there isn’t something underlying. It’s uncommon for a dog to suddenly have bad toilet habits at 4.

Is there something she is scared of? Have you changed something in the house? New pet, new baby, different routine? Some dogs show anxiety through loosing control of their bowels

If everything is ruled out then you’ll need to go back to training like she is a puppy. Getting up in the night to let her out and seeing what she does. It might just be a phase

She needs to see a vet.
