Leads for running

Hi all

I am planning to buy my husband a lead to take the dog running with him when he goes running. Our dog is a spaniel so not hugely muscular but is fast. I know we'll have to build up her stamina but I think it will be something they'll both love. I have seen leads that go around the waist a d leads that go across the body. Does anyone use one and what would you recommend? Thanks

Look at kit for canicross. Remember you need a running harness too.

I use these but my dog is 45kg so needs something extra strong. We don't have a running harness yet for him as we are seeing how it goes, the canicross club are going to check what he needs

Canicross is basically running with dogs so I'd have a look at their kit.

Remember however that dogs need both mental and physical exercise, and running is purely physical. He'll need to build in some time for the dog to sniff, greet other dogs and generally do dog things as well as running.

I have the Zero DC Canicross belt (with leg straps), a ‘parkrun’ length (1.2m) bungee lead and then an appropriate Canicross harness for the dog.

Dogfit and K9trailtime are good websites.
