Broken dog tooth

First post on the doghouse but could do with a bit of advice - I’ve just found part of a tooth in our dogs basket - on closer inspection she appears to have snapped off part of one of her canines.

Im not sure when it happened - but I don’t think it was today as it was in the bottom of her basket under the cushion. She doesn’t appear to be in any pain - still eating, playing with toys - had a denta type chew earlier etc.

I will of course be getting her booked in asap when the vets opens on Monday morning but I just wondered if anyone else had similar happen to their dog and what the outcome was - did they remove the tooth - do dogs have fillings?

I feel so guilty for not noticing earlier but she isn’t behaving any differently from normal so I’m hoping she’s not in pain.

One of our dogs broke a top front tooth. Not sure how long it had been broken when I spotted it. Didn't seem to be in pain but had to have it removed.

I seem to remember having a few issues with his insurers. It was classed as trauma rather than decay so was covered under his policy. However the whole claim was rejected initially as it included a cost for cleaning the teeth either side, which the vet said was essential to reduce the risk of any infection in the wound. We had to pay that bit separately in the end 🙄

Thank you both - looking likely she’ll need the tooth out then. I thought that might be the case, but hopefully no long term impact for her.

Also thank you for flagging up about the insurance, I’ll check our policy.
