Holiday question

We have a 9 month old labradoodle. In April we are going away for 9 days, have visited loads of different places and are happy with a set of kennels locally.

We have been advised to get her spayed after her first season, which is not likely to be for another 6 months or so. However it would be just our luck if she did! (She will be 11 months at the time of holiday.)

If she comes into season just before she is due to go into kennels, they can't take her (understandably).

Does anyone have any experience of insurance that would cover this? (For the actual holiday - not so bothered about losing the kennels fee).

First thing we did when pup came into season was to book a holiday. I'm not aware of anything that would cover this scenario so we just didn't risk it. Our pet insurance would cover cancellation or delay due to illness but not coming into season.

Yes, unfortunately the holiday was booked long before the puppy came on the scene.

I was hoping someone would have advice, otherwise it's crossing fingers and hoping for the best!

Sorry I can't help with insurance, but you could look into a house sitter as a backup.

Instead of risking kennels and having to cancel your holiday, why not see if someone can stay with her in your home?

Thanks. I think this might be the way to go - or boarding her with someone who can deal with it if it should happen (this was our initial intention anyway - long story).

Thanks all.
