Cat is about 13 and got dog as a puppy 3 years ago. Cat is a bit of a grump at times.

generally there’s a healthy respect from dog to cat. And if cat is sitting in doorway dog won’t go through. Not sure if ca5 does this on purpose but I think he does.

cat has taken to sleeping in The dogs bed upstairs in the day…dog sleeps in our room at night , cat downstairs, and if cat (v quietly ) scratches on door in morning for breakfast the dog goes mad barking.

it’s not an easy relationship….but they basically muddle along.

Mine all get on fine, the dogs have been brought up with cats from pups, that probably helps

Dog now RIP. But was introduced to a 3 cat household as an older dog. Dog v meek and submissive, cats ruled the roost. Never any issues. Dog always gave way and was very polite.

Last dog (terrier sighthound cross) was great with three different cats once we’d trained her that the cats were for leaving alone (with reward based training). She was 1 ish when we added the first cat. Other cats were fair game though.

Current pup (6 months old border terrier) thinks our 14 year old cat is SUPER EXCITING but she thinks everything is SUPER EXCITING and we have seen her calm down around him. They have supervised sessions together with lots of treats for leaving him alone. Our cat is very chilled, doesn’t run and just thinks she’s a bit of an idiot. I think they’ll get there when she’s less puppy. We have total segregation when we’re not actively training but the cat frequently decides he doesn’t need it and jumps the room divider 🙄 She will call off most of the time.

2 cats 2 young dogs here. Cats were here first. They give the dogs a very wide berth! Dogs still really excitable around them.

We have three cats aged three, six and seven, and a dog aged five.

They all get along well, though the cats are definitely in charge!

3 cats and 1 Romanian rescue dog. They generally just ignore each other. Apart from sometimes I think the dog can't see the black cat properly as he seems to make him jump as if he wasn't aware he was there.
