I had a post in here a while ago.
Essentially I am 12 weeks pregnant and for the last 5 weeks my dog keeps pooping and whizzing in the house. Mostly at night time with no calls to be let out or effort to get attention to be let out (we have cameras up but he literally just 'goes' and we can never catch him in the act on time). No change to food or routine, wormed... all those obvious things have been ticked off.
I brought him to the vet and they said it was behavioural 100%. Potentially because of the cold weather, the pregnancy hormones or literally anything I'm between. I have followed all the advice and nothing has seemed to work.
He was recently 2 and we are now thinking he is 'matured' as for his breed this sounds about right.
- barks at some (not all dogs) and one confirmed was in heat
- number 1 and 2's in the house (sameish area/times)
- has a stronger 'musky' smell (not just my pregnancy nose that has noticed this)
- very enthusiastically sniffs during walks and does NOT like to be rushed on this activity
- pulling on lead and being far more reactive
- more aggressively demanding attention (forcing his head in on you to be pet, banging at the door to be let out, huffing etc.
Does this sound like that stage? And will it pass?
The vet said neutering isn't essential unless there was a risk he could get to any ladies (which he cannot). Also not completely sure 'maturity' is the cause.
By no means am I afraid of him but I am becoming wary of walking him as he is quite strong. Also for obvious reasons I want to sort this out before the baby comes.
Baby training starting as soon as we acquire more baby items and have already tried some basic things. Only 12 weeks so only fully at terms with the pregnancy ourselves.
Any help or advice greatly appreciated.
I know some posters on here are more experienced with dogs than most vets!
